Cheryl Cook

Illustrator and Product Designer

9/25- Today, professional illustrator, designer, and courtroom sketch artist Cheryl Cook came to talk to Art in Action. She spoke about her experience working at Oglivy and Mather, a marketing agency, as a storyboard creator for the company’s clients. She also discussed her freelance career, which she entered after working at Oglivy and Mather. She has illustrated picture books, designed logos and products, designed cards for Hallmark, done the courtroom sketches for important trials like R. Kelly’s, and so much more! She even told us that she won an Emmy award for her work illustrating a news article about the death of a child. Because she has experience working for both a company and working freelance, her talk really helped club members understand many different sides of the professional art world, and the idea that there’s so many ways to pursue art as a career. She also currently works as an art teacher with over 100 students, so she was able to give club members tips on teaching art classes, which is one of the main goals of Art in Action.
